Changing community attitudes towards the use of the Queensland’s native forests have resulted in significant forest planning and allocation decisions.
In Queensland our broad aims of forestry planning are to:
- protect environmental values;
- provide certainty to the timber industry,; and
- ensure ecologically sustainable management of all forests.
Working in partnership Timber Queensland, the Queensland Government and the Australian Rainforest Conservation Society (ARCS) have developed the most successful forestry agreements in Australia – the South-East Queensland Forest Agreement (SEQFA), which has been followed by the Statewide Forest Process (SFP).
